New Varieties of chillis
Fuxiang Series (Chillis)
Main variety features:
This medium-maturing thick-horn-type variety was developed by the National Center for Technology Research and Popularization on New Pepper Varieties, and Hunan Vegetable Research Institute. It features strong disease-resistance ability, high output, green young fruit, bright-red matured fruit, glossy fruit, 15cm long and 5cm wide fruit, over 0.4cm thick flesh, around 150g per fruit, tolerance to storage and transport, and good commodity value.
Main cultivation measures:
- This variety is suitable for medium-maturing high-yield cultivation. Avoid old seedling and prevent from growing into

Suitable areas and seasons for cultivating:
The cultivating time in Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Yunnan is between September 15th and January 15th of the next year, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River between November 15th and February 28th of the next year, the Yellow River region and the north of it between February 5th and April 25th.
Adaptability:
This variety is suitable for abundant fertilizer and water and is of average heat-tolerance ability.
Bola Series (chillis)
Main variety features:
This medium-maturing pepper variety was developed by the National Center for Technology Research and Popularization on New Pepper Varieties, and Hunan Vegetable Research Institute, featuring strong plant-growing ability, tolerance to heat, first flower around the 11th node, light-green young fruit, bright-red matured fruit, glossy and straight fruit, about 22cm long and 2cm wide fruit, about 1.5mm thick flesh, around 30g per fruit, good taste for fresh eating, good commodity value, strong fruit-setting ability, and strong resistance to bad environment. It is suitable for sauce making, too.
Main cultivation measures:
- This variety is suitable for spring open field cultivation and is available for autumn-delaying cultivation under strengthened
- Spray enough base manure, with well-decomposed organic fertilizer the
Top-dress fertilizer after fruit-setting.
- Suggested plant and row spacing is about 45cm×45cm.

Xingshu Series (Chillis)
Main variety features:
This early-maturing pepper variety was developed by the National Technique Research and Popularization Center for New Pepper Varieties, and Hunan Vegetable Research Institute, featuring medium growing ability, compact plant, first flower blossoming between the 9-11th node, slender sheep-horn-shape, 19-23cm long and 1.8-2.1cm wide fruit, 0.2cm thick flesh, 20-25g per fruit, green fruit with slightly-wrinkled peel, deep-red over-matured fruit, spicy taste, both fresh eating and processing available, tolerance to heat, high yield, resistance to disease, and wide adaptability.
Main cultivation measures:
This variety is suitable for deep-trench narrow-ridge cultivation in reaches of the Yangtze River in fertile alluvial soil with good drainage and irrigation at the plant and row spacing of 0.35×0.5m. Field cultivate double plants in double lines per ridge. Spread enough base fertilizer. Pay attention to spraying phosphorus fertilizer and potash fertilizer, and top-dress fertilizer in time to prevent the plant from getting the disease.
